2C-N
2C-N is a relatively uncommon, short-acting psychedelic in the substituted phenethylamine and 2C-X families. It was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin,1 who described it in his 1991 book PiHKAL.1 Its salts range from bright yellow to orange,1 distinguishing it from other 2C substances, whose salts are white.1 Shulgin noted that reports of 2C-N consistently described it as falling a little short of expectations.2

Pharmacology
Pharmacodynamics
2C-N acts as a low-potency partial agonist at serotonin 5-HT2A, 5-HT2B, and 5-HT2C receptors.
Pharmacokinetics
2C-N is metabolized by the monoamine oxidase enzymes MAO-A and MAO-B.
Dangerous
Highest riskThese combinations are considered extremely harmful and should always be avoided. Reactions to these drugs taken in combination are highly unpredictable and have a potential to cause death.
Unsafe
AvoidThere is considerable risk of physical harm when taking these combinations, they should be avoided where possible.
Caution
Use cautionThese combinations are not usually physically harmful, but may produce undesirable effects, such as physical discomfort or overstimulation. Extreme use may cause physical health issues. Synergistic effects may be unpredictable. Care should be taken when choosing to use this combination.

Toxicity
No lethal-dose or LD50 data were identified. MAOIs may potentiate 2C drugs such as 2C-N and may result in overdose and serious toxicity.
History & Culture
Alexander Shulgin first synthesized 2C-N1 and described it in his 1991 book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines I Have Known and Loved).1 The compound had been described in the scientific literature by at least 1991.
