Argentina controls DMXE through the arylcyclohexylamine chemical-group schedule in Annex II of Decree 560/2019 rather than by individual name. Its PCE-derived ethylamino group, meta-methyl aromatic substitution, and 2-oxo cyclohexanone core match the relevant Group 2 structure and its permitted amino-alkyl and aromatic-alkyl substitutions. Article 2 treats substances within the Annex II chemical groups as estupefacientes for article 77 of the Penal Code; Decree 122/2026 replaces only Annex I and leaves this group schedule in place.

Colombia's sanitary code treats Ministry-designated psychopharmaceuticals, their precursors, and any other substance of analogous nature as restricted. The current national schedule names methoxetamine (MXE), 2-(3-methoxyphenyl)-2-(ethylamino)cyclohexanone, while the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs identifies DMXE as an MXE analogue with the chemical name 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexan-1-one. DMXE therefore falls within the statutory analogue restriction; Annex 4 separately covers salts and stereoisomers of substances in Green List II.

Russia controls DMXE through the List I entry for 1-phenylcyclohexylamine and its derivatives under Government Decree No. 681. DMXE's official chemical identity, 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexanone, differs from 1-phenylcyclohexylamine by formal hydrogen substitutions with ethyl and methyl groups and by replacement of two ring hydrogens with divalent oxygen; the carbon-bearing substituents add three carbons, within note 6's carbon-count ceiling. List I covers narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors whose circulation is prohibited in Russia.

DMXE is covered as an undesirable dependence-producing substance through Part III of Schedule 2 rather than by an individual name. Part III lists phencyclidine and its congener PCE, then extends coverage to chemically related homologues incorporating a similar structural fragment or exhibiting similar pharmacodynamic properties; Japan's Ministry of Health identifies DMXE as 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexanone and 3′-methyl-2-oxo-PCE, while the UK Home Office classifies it as an arylcyclohexylamine covered by a generic phenylcyclohexylamine clause. Sections 4 and 5 prohibit unauthorized possession, use, and dealing, subject to the Act's medicinal and permit exceptions.

At Commonwealth level, DMXE is covered as a controlled-drug and border-controlled-drug analogue of listed ketamine. The US FDA substance registry identifies DMXE as deoxymethoxetamine and 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexan-1-one, while the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs identifies deoxymethoxetamine among ketamine analogues; section 301.9 covers specified group and atom replacements and other analogues or chemical derivatives. The Criminal Code Regulations 2019 list ketamine in Schedule 1 item 146 and Schedule 2 item 110, so sections 301.1 and 301.4 extend federal controlled-drug and border-controlled-drug status to the analogue.

The Shenzhen Public Security Bureau's official controlled-drug catalogue, published 17 July 2026 and expressly current through 1 July 2026, lists entry 199 as 2-乙氨基-2-(3-甲基苯基)环己酮 / 2-(Ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexan-1-one, CAS 2666932-45-0, abbreviation DMXE. The three-agency 2025 consolidation announcement states that the Catalogue of Non-medical Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances took effect upon publication and simultaneously repealed the former Supplementary Catalogue. A further three-agency announcement added 16 substances effective 1 July 2026; the later official police consolidation retains DMXE as entry 199. Regulation Articles 3 and 4 establish the three-agency non-medical catalogue and permit a listed non-medical substance to be used only for experimental research conducted under the Regulation, while prohibiting production, operation, use, storage, and transport. Public Security Administration Punishments Law Article 84 penalizes illegal possession of a small quantity of other drugs. Criminal Law Article 348 penalizes illegal possession of larger quantities of other drugs, and Article 357 defines drugs to include other state-controlled addictive narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. DMXE is therefore prohibited for ordinary possession and use, subject to the Regulation's narrow experimental-research authorization.

DMXE is expressly listed as Deoxymethoxetamin in the current annex to Government Regulation No. 11/2025 Coll., with the chemical name 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylfenyl)-cyklohexanon. Section 33j of Act No. 167/1998 Coll. treats manufacture, export, import, distribution, market-directed acquisition and placing on the market as handling, and prohibits that handling except for research. The regulation also covers stereoisomers, salts and esters of listed substances where they can exist.

The current Annex 1 expressly lists DMXE in List I as deoxymethoxetamine and identifies it as 2-(ethylamino)-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexanone and 2-(ethylamino)-2-(m-tolyl)cyclohexanone. Regulation No. 33 of 6 August 2026 replaced Annex 1 in full and took effect on 14 August 2026. Under §§ 2(1) and 3(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Precursors Act, substances in the ministerial lists are narcotic or psychotropic substances and their handling is prohibited except for the Act's medical, scientific, law-enforcement, and statutory teaching purposes. The official revision history identifies consolidated text 111082026010 as the latest version; RT I, 11.08.2026, 9 is the publication reference for the amending regulation, not RT I, 11.08.2026, 10.

Germany controls DMXE through the arylcyclohexyl(methyl)amine substance group in Anlage 1 no. 6 of the NpSG rather than by individual name. DMXE's N-ethyl group, methyl-substituted phenyl ring, and cyclohexanone oxo group fit the provision's permitted alkyl R1/R2, alkyl-substituted phenyl R3, and oxo Rn parameters within the 500 u mass ceiling. Sections 2 and 3 classify substances in an Anlage 1 group as new psychoactive substances and prohibit trade, placing on the market, manufacture, import, export, transit, acquisition, possession, and administration, subject to statutory exceptions.

DMXE is not individually named in Singapore's current First Schedule, but the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973 covers an unlisted substance as a psychoactive substance when it has the capacity to stimulate or depress the central nervous system and affect mental functioning or emotional state, unless it is excluded under the Fifth Schedule. A 2026 UK government review identifies deoxymethoxetamine as a ketamine analogue detected in drug seizures, and Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau states that unlisted NPS with psychoactive capacity are dealt with as psychoactive substances. Sections 11F to 11I make unauthorised trafficking, manufacture, import, export, possession and consumption offences, subject to the Act's legitimate-purpose defences.

DMXE is expressly listed as Deoxymethoxetamin, with the matching chemical name 2-Ethylamino-2-(3-methylphenyl)cyclohexan-1-on, at number 287 of Annex 6, list e, in the current BetmVV-EDI consolidation dated 13 March 2026. BetmVV-EDI Articles 1 and 2 make Annex 6/list e substances controlled substances. BetmG Article 7 requires EDI authorisation to cultivate, manufacture, import, export, store, use, or market them, and Article 20(1)(c) penalises those activities without authorisation. AS 2021 815 added number 287 and brought the amendment into force on 6 December 2021 at 10:00; the current schedule retains DMXE without a substance-specific exemption.
