5-APDI appears to act primarily as a potent, weakly selective serotonin releasing agent. It inhibits serotonin reuptake more strongly than dopamine or norepinephrine reuptake, consistent with its serotonin-preferring profile. In trained animals, it fully substitutes for MBDB but not amphetamine, although high doses produce disruption in the amphetamine-trained animals.2
