Antipsychotics (also known as neuroleptics) are a class of psychoactive medications that manage psychosis. Psychosis includes hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thought. Antipsychotics mainly block dopamine receptors. This block reduces dopamine signaling, which researchers think runs too high during a psychotic state.
