Overdose can cause sleepiness, agitation, and impaired coordination, with symptoms occurring more frequently and severely in children. Fatal asphyxia attributed to benzodiazepine toxicity has been reported in three elderly patients taking therapeutic maintenance doses for two to three weeks.1 High doses of fluvoxamine may intensify its adverse effects.
