Pramiracetam
Pramiracetam is a synthetic nootropic stimulant of the racetam class and a derivative of piracetam. It differs structurally from piracetam through the addition of a diisopropyl ethylamino chain.1 Scientists at Parke-Davis discovered it in the late 1970s. It is marketed in parts of Europe to treat memory and attention deficits in older people with neurodegenerative or vascular dementias.

Subjective Effects
Pharmacology
Pharmacodynamics
Pramiracetam modulates the muscarinic acetylcholine M5 receptor in humans. Its mechanism is not well understood,2 but it is thought to enhance high-affinity choline uptake. This may increase acetylcholine synthesis and availability, potentially contributing to its effects on memory.

Interactions
An unlisted combination is an unknown one, not a safe one. Check a dedicated combination chart before mixing.
Tolerance
Tolerance timelines are rules of thumb, not exact schedules, and vary widely between individuals and use patterns.
Possible cross-tolerance with all racetam nootropics (including aniracetam and piracetam)
Harm Potential
Addiction & Dependence
Psychological
LowChronic pramiracetam use is described as non-addictive, low in abuse potential, and apparently unable to cause psychological dependence among some users.
Toxicity
Anecdotal reports describe painful chemical burns from ingesting pramiracetam powder sublingually.
History & Culture
Pramiracetam was discovered in the late 1970s by scientists at Parke-Davis, then a division of Warner-Lambert. Warner-Lambert investigated it for Alzheimer's disease but discontinued development for that indication after Phase II trials produced mixed results. The company subsequently pursued its…
