Pentylone
Pentylone is a stimulant of the substituted cathinone class1, first synthesized in the 1960s. Reports of euphoria vary, with some describing little or none and others reporting entactogenic effects at certain doses. Pentylone was identified alongside three other cathinones in an NRG-1 product sample.2 It has been included in products with variable compositions.2 Reported adverse effects include paranoia, agitation, and insomnia, and effects can persist for several days at high doses.

Pharmacology
Pharmacodynamics
Pentylone inhibits the reuptake of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, with lower measured inhibitory concentrations at the norepinephrine and dopamine transporters than at the serotonin transporter.3 It also promotes serotonin release,3 which was observed at a test concentration of 100 µM, although the relevance of this action is unclear. In rat drug-discrimination testing, pentylone fully substituted for methamphetamine and cocaine.4

Interactions
An unlisted combination is an unknown one, not a safe one. Check a dedicated combination chart before mixing.
Tolerance
Tolerance timelines are rules of thumb, not exact schedules, and vary widely between individuals and use patterns.
Harm Potential
Addiction & Dependence
Psychological
ModeratePentylone is considered habit-forming.
Toxicity
Pentylone has sometimes caused pronounced cardiovascular effects, including notable tachycardia and chest pain.
Reports describe paranoia, agitation, insomnia, and delirium with persecutory and grandiose themes after several days of behavioral changes.
Psychosis Risk
Case reports describe paranoia and delirium marked by persecutory and grandiose themes, especially with large doses or individual vulnerability.
Seizure Risk
Animal data report clonic convulsions in 3 of 7 mice eight hours after 100 mg/kg intraperitoneal administration.
History & Culture
Pentylone was developed in the 1960s and described in a UK patent in 1969. Reports of its use emerged around 2010, when it appeared on the research chemical market.…
