Dimemebfe
Dimemebfe may be considered a benzofuran analog of 5-MeO-DMT, with oxygen replacing the indole nitrogen1. It is described as producing effects somewhat similar to psilocybin mushrooms, with additional empathogenic effects. In receptor-binding assays using rat brain homogenate, tertiary benzofuran amines had approximately one-sixth the 5-HT2 receptor affinity of the corresponding indoles2. Dimemebfe is described as less potent than 5-MeO-DMT and is described as much less potent overall. Its psychoactive classification remains tentative.

Reported as broadly resembling the experience of psilocybin mushrooms, with an additional empathogenic character.

An empathogenic quality is noted alongside the psilocybin-like headspace.
Pharmacology
Pharmacodynamics
Dimemebfe acts as an agonist at the 5-HT1A and 5-HT2 families of serotonin receptors, with its strongest activity at the 5-HT2 family. Compared with 5-MeO-DMT, it is several times less potent as a serotonin agonist and shows relatively greater activity at 5-HT1A receptors.
