4-Methylpentedrone (4-MPD) is a substituted cathinone1 and stimulant. Invented in 1960, it is a higher homologue of mephedrone and the para-methyl analogue of pentedrone; it can also be viewed as a methylamino analogue of pyrovalerone. A sample obtained as 4-MPD was identified as 4-MEAP rather than 4-methylpentedrone.2

History & Culture

4-Methylpentedrone was invented in 1960 as a stimulant of the cathinone class. It is a higher homolog of mephedrone and 4-MeMABP, the p-methyl derivative of pentedrone, and the methylamino analog of pyrovalerone. A related compound, 4-MEAP, has been incorrectly sold as 4-methylpentedrone2.
